Ban Hammer Incoming

image So, it looks like Microsoft has thrown down the XBox Live ban hammer once again. Scary stuff! I will find out my own fate when I go home tonight, boot up the 360 and try to connect to Live. Should be exciting. I’ll record a video of the event, post it up here and go all vblog on you.

I’m really excited about WiiWare.  In fact, I’m just excited about digital distribution in general.  I’ve bought a few games on the Virtual Console, I just bought the Orange Box off of Steam and I bought Worms on Xbox Live Arcade.  It’s easy, it’s quick, I like.

This Trailer Excites Me

I think I’ve posted about this game before, but it’s coming out soon and this trailer gets me even more excited about it.  CAN’T WAIT!

An Abundance of Goodness

This week ushers in the release of two new NHL video games, NHL2K8 and NHL 2008.  I’ve been a steadfast 2K-man myself, starting with NHL2K on the Dreamcast.  EA’s offerings have generally been garbage, but last year they overhauled the whole game for the XBox 360.  NHL 2007 was okay, but NHL 2008 is all sorts of fantastic.

Personally, I’m torn.  NHL2K8 is good, no doubt about it, but it’s more of the same with some better goalies, nicer graphics and a new control scheme that I have yet to get used to.  NHL08 has fantastic graphics, a new control scheme (to me, anyways) that I’m starting to get into, and presentation-wise is head and shoulders above 2K8.

I feel myself being pulled to the dark side.  So dark! So… damp. So… cold…

One Ring to Rule Them All

image Yesterday I was at the Gallant-Turner house, eating BBQ and watching Brandon’s 360 die.  Good times.  Since Brandon had opened his 360 earlier to check out what was inside, he no longer had a valid warranty.  Red Ring of Death, no way to fix it.

OR WAS THERE?

I took the damn thing home with me, ripped it apart and did the 12 cent fix.  Actually, I cheaped out and only used 8 cents.  Don’t hate me. Surprisingly, it came back to life!  I was going to take pictures of the process, but I couldn’t find the camera.  Boo!  Anyways, it was action packed, and now Brandon must trade me his 2nd pick overall.

Jordie’s Naked (And Famous)

image Jordie has secured his place in Interweb lore by putting together a globe out of Lego men, entering a contest and having his entry featured on Kotaku. I was looking through the comments, and I liked this pair:

What happend to “It must have oceans, countries etc” ???

@dnzperson:
There’s some blue in there, which looks like water. Good enough! :D

I have yet to play this World in Conflict, mostly because my video card is on the fritz.  When I play a game for a while, weird objects start appearing in the 3D plane.  They actually have depth and shape.  It’s bizarre.  I think my card is overheating, so I need to send it back in.  When it returns, I’ll try this World in Conflict out. ;)

Sounds like a winner!

From Kotaku:

batsubatsu.jpg What was missing in SimCity? Hot spots for dating and “adult goods.” With Batsu Batsu na Kanojo no Tsukurikata, erotic games maker Kiss is picking up where Will Wright left off. The game features traditional dating sim elements plus a “city development system” that is reminiscent of SimCity. What’s different is that you’re goal isn’t to make citizens happy or foster an active economy, but focusing on creating dating spots like restaurants, theme parks and “adult goods” shops to woo ladies at. The official site is scant on info, so we’re not quite sure how extensive this SimCity bit is or if it’s just a gimmick. Still, the idea that you’re building amusement parks, restaurants and adults-only stores to court game heroines is HILARIOUS. Once more screenshots surface, we shall post them. Oh yes, we shall.

I sure do like SimCity.  I’m sad that the DS version turned out so badly.  Maybe my hopes should lie in this fine title? ;)
