News from the front

explosion1 The iPod hard drive I bought off of eBay arrived today! After initially dismissing it as ‘horribly broken’ and cursing eBay, eBay sellers and the Internet in general, I realized I had the hard drive installed upside down. One quick flip resolved all issues. ;) So I’m back in business. Serious business. Where is my business suit? At the dry cleaners.

Starting our media tour

We’re getting started in Strathroy, on myFM.  And we’re having people talk for us. There’s an Almost Newlywed game that they’re putting together, and, well, we’re almost newlyweds.  So, people have been nominating us to go on the show.  You can, too.  Just don’t cry too much when it’s revealed that after nearly 11 years of dating, I still think Mandie’s favourite food is cabbage.

Ahhh, the persecution stings

car-explosion First it was Google, now the new Firefox beta!  Never before has the effect of the man been felt so strongly.  Please, stop keeping me down.  My voice can not be silenced!

Keith sent me a screenshot of the warning he gets when he tries to visit my site.  I have posted it below.  Clicking the thumbnail will not kill you.  I promise.

Console Startup Screens

cheese GamesRadar (what?) put together a cool video montage of a bunch of console startup sequences.

The Dreamcast startup is my favourite.  bing bing bong bing bing bing whisssssssssssh… Also, the Gamecube one is great. It makes me sad that the first thing you see when you turn on the Wii is a health and safety warning.  Can’t you see I’m already healthy and safe, Wii?  Can’t you detect that with your IR blaster and fancy accelerometers?  What year is this? God.

Also, I can’t believe people had to wait that long when starting their 3DO.

Dark Day

Big_Explosion.jpgD0C9DC22-8CA7-4363-90A9AC176C77FB73.jpgLarge After two years, nearly to the day, my iPod has kicked the bucket. I dropped it at work, and the hard drive didn’t work so well after that.  I tried some trickery by sending it to Apple under the guise of a battery replacement (in which they would replace the whole iPod) since it still booted into the menu, but I guess their diagnostics are pretty thorough.  *SIGH*

So, I don’t know what I want to do.  I can’t really afford to buy a new one and I’m sort of waiting for the iPhone to come out here. I was hoping it would last until that happened, but it was not to be.  I might try replacing the hard drive in my current one, which would probably be just shy of $100.  I’d much rather put that towards another iPod.  Wah.

My OTHER Blog

IraqiExplosion_ied That’s right, sons and daughters.  I have two of them.  Actually, that’s a lie.  My 360 has the other blog.  I’ve never mentioned it here, and for that I apologize.  Anyways, here it is:

http://www.360voice.com/tag/YeOldeSock

I signed up for it after a friend of mine set one up for his XBox. If you come visit and we play XBox, you’ll see it blogged about there.  For example, on Saturday Dave and Jordie came over, and we played NHL 08, Army of Two and then Mandie joined us for some Rock Band.  Here’s the post from that day:

YeOldeSock’s Xbox – 3/9/2008

I told YeOldeSock ‘Don’t make me hurt you!’ and the threat worked because he decided to show up yesterday. A gamer score of 3,750 is in our back pocket. That is a boost of 20 points over last time! He rallied NHL® 08, Army of Two, Rock Band, and… hmmm… maybe that was all… it felt like we played more games.

IT’S ALL THERE.  Scary!

In other news, all of my future posts here will include pictures of explosions. I hope this doesn’t offend you.

Smash Bros. Brawl

I’m going to try and find a store that will let me buy it before Sunday. I’ll let you know how it goes.

<smashbrosdog.gif>

Update: It didn’t happen.  But Jordie and I picked it up Sunday morning bright and early(ish).  Then we played it for 3 hours or so and then I kicked him out of my house.
